AISTE 2019 is a means-cum-merit talent examination for school students of India, aimed at appreciating their merit in accordance with their economic needs to pursue quality education. The exam is conducted by Ability Education Trust (accredited by Govt. of India).
School education in India is becoming expensive day-by-day, and because of their financial limitations, students tend to drop out of elementary education system more often. ASER reports that as much as a quarter of the school going students in classes 3 to 8 between 2011-2017 will be out of higher education enrollment statistics by 2022; a third of this segment leaving because of financial concerns.
To rectify this discourse of education funding and enrollment scenario, Government of India and private organisations run various scholarship exams like NTSE (National Talent Search Examination), AIPMST (All India Pre-Medical Scholarship Test), and MTSE- Maths Talent Search Examination (MTSE) etc. One such scholarship exam which provides benefits to the students based on their combined merit and need of financial assistance is All India Scholarship Test Examination-AISTE.

Recently the exam pattern has been modulated to an online examination system, but some states still continue to conduct the examinations offline. Some details about this this year’s AISTE are:
Eligibility of AISTE 2019: School students studying in classes 4 to 12 at any educational institution approved by National education regulatory bodies like CBSE, ICSE, IB, IGCSE, etc. and state boards along with independent regulatory bodies like UP Board Of Madarsa Education etc; can apply for this scholarship. There is no barrier for caste, gender, social sector, region etc.
Awards and Benefits of AISTE 2019: this year 200 meritorious students appearing for AISTE will be awarded based on their combined test performance and financial need. 62 meritorious students will receive scholarships and remaining top scorers will be provided with appreciation certificates and book-bank facilities. Details of the awards are:
AISTE All India Rank 1: Rs. 90,000 (fixed, one time)
AISTE All India Rank 2: Rs. 70,000 (fixed, one time)
AISTE All India Rank 3: Rs. 50,000 (fixed, one time)
State Rank 1 (all states): Rs. 30,000 (fixed, one time)
All national and state toppers will also receive book-bank facilities to pay for their library, stationary and book expenses during school education for one year.
In addition to this top 200 national level performers of the AISTE 2019 will be awarded a scholarship of ₹5,000. Top 1000 scorers of AISTE 2019 will also be awarded appreciation certificates of merit.
Examination details: The AISTE 2019 examination will be conducted online at preset centers of each state. Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Kerala and Uttar Pradesh will be conducting the exam in offline mode in May 2019. The test can be given in regional language format for English, Hindi, Marathi or Semi-English. A total 120 questions with 60 questions of mathematics and 20 questions each of English, Science and General Knowledge will be asked in the examination.
Application Details: Students will need to apply for the AISTE 2019 by submitting a duly filled application form online. Applicants are required to pay an application fees of ₹249 to appear in the examination. Top 500 scorers of the AISTE 2019 will be reimbursed for their registration fees as well. Students of Bihar however might be able to collect their application form offline. Last date to apply for the examination is February 20, 2019.
